An anomaly is defined as something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected. There are things we don’t understand about this world, there are people who in every sense defile the laws of logic, emotions or creed and prove beyond every reasonable doubt that they are different.
They are given many names by society, freaks, weirdos, losers, nerds, mad, crazy, obstructors and outliers. I like outliers, it sounds cool notwithstanding that it means a person who stands apart from other members of a group, such as by differing behaviour, beliefs, or religious practices. These individuals don’t conform to the rules or generalisations of society and as such they are treated as outcasts.
There is nothing special about them as no one in this life is special not even your faves or those you hold in high esteem for we are just pencils in the hands of the creator. Just know this and you will know peace.
In this age of spin, social media hits, globalization and the apparent pandemic of FOMO (Fear of missing out), it is rare to find voices that stand out from the crowd. Among such voices in these trying times is VeryDarkBlackMan.
Born Martins Vincent Oste, he is an indigene of Edo State, Nigeria. He is a content creator and online media activist. According to his bio on Instagram, he refers to himself as the ‘RATEL’ ‘TRENCHES BORN/GHETTO RAISED’ to whom it may concern. He rose to prominence for his dedicated efforts in exposing skincare brands operating without the necessary certifications. He is also widely recognized as a prominent advocate for public safety on his TikTok page, garnering support from the masses.
I came in contact with him through a colleague of mine regarding his reaction to a viral clip that came off Caramel plugg podcast, in his video he pointed out that 10 thousand Naira was not useless money especially if you worked for it, he stated that the girls in question lacked proper home training and urged men to avoid such women for their peace of mind.
Personally, I do not agree with everything he has said or done so far and he most definitely has flaws which are massive by the way like we all do. But you can’t deny the fact that he is making sense via his content on social media and ironically we need more of such voices like his in this era of indecision, fake life and unhealthy stan culture particularly in the Nigerian entertainment industry where a vast majority of Nigerian youths are held in a chokehold by these celebrities.
A note of warning to all if you care to listen. Celebrities are humans like you too oh, they make mistakes, and have emotions. Some can be used to push any agenda for the right price oh, especially the ones that have no morals, ethics, religious beliefs or came into the limelight through devious means.
We need more people who do not bow to the mob, who dare to be different and challenge the perceived accepted standards of today’s world. As I have said earlier I am not a fan of his I just agree with some if not most of the things he says. He has flaws like everyone, I am no saint and I am the biggest hypocrite I know but I cannot deceive myself on this issue. He is an outlier though I do not know his endgame, why he is really doing this, his true motivations. But I do know this, he has changed the game and he is going to be here for a while.
Some of his takes may or may not have affected the investigation into the death of Mohbad, I don’t know. For now, we just have to wait and see how it plays out, I just pray for justice, till then make we continue to dey catch cruise for Naija. Remember don’t play else you gonna learn and you will learn the hard way.
P.S: Nigeria has gone beyond the state of emergency in all sectors excluding the entertainment and to some extent the sports sector.
